Inspired by my grandpa’s woodworking shop, “Bookshelf of Memories” leans into a John Prine–style, campfire storytelling bluegrass tradition. It honours the material things that hold our memories, and the way sharing stories keeps loved ones close. A playful, nostalgic celebration of what we build and pass on.

“Bookshelf of Memories” will be available on all streaming platforms Dec. 21st

A person with curly brown hair, wearing glasses and an orange sleeveless top, holding a cocktail glass with a pink drink, sitting among purple crocus flowers, with a background of blue sky and white clouds. Overlaid text reads "Nothing but the Love."

Ever noticed how much blood there is in a church service? This song wonders what our faith might sound like if worship songs gave as much space to the meaning of Jesus’ life as they do to his death.

A grief-stricken tongue-in-cheek eulogy and critique, it reimagines what’s worth singing about in faith, a spirituality large enough to envelope death, hope, and love for all life on earth.

Listen to the full story behind the song and a live unplugged recording on The Re:Podcast (starting at 00:41:25)

Debut Single

A collage featuring three photos of a woman with curly red hair, wearing a floral patterned dress, smiling outdoors with trees and flowers in the background, along with text that reads "Amy Van Bergen" and "Ode to 26".

Commissioned by the City of Mission for the 2024 Mission Record Project, Ode to 26 intends to honour the connectedness of the lands we live within, and the value of recognizing that its stories do not begin nor end with us.

It seems fitting that my first love song is a ballad of the quiet romance between the Fraser River and Mission’s historic forests. Inspired by the land’s interconnectedness and the gifts it gives to the community, the song is a musical reminder of the deep relationship between people, river, and forest.
